After transporting this G23 from Lake Lanier to Lake Norman earlier this week, we found that the tracking fin was bent. We'll gladly take the opportunity to replace it for the owners so that this boat will be ready to cruise the waters of Lake Norman. We look forward to hopefully maintaining this beautiful vessel for them for a long time to come.

This is likely the least-expensive 2003 Ski Nautique 196 available for sale anywhere.

While this is a very nice looking color combination with an engine that runs well, make no mistake, this boat is no beauty queen. Mechanically, it functions well, with the exceptions noted below. The gelcoat has a few significant scratches, but the most important thing to note is that this boat has osmosis damage from the waterline down. While this has no impact on its functionality, I do want any potential buyers to be aware of this before coming to see the boat. It appears that a previous owner left this boat in the water for a --LONG-- time. The osmosis damage is pretty significant. The rest of the gelcoat is faded, but would look pretty nice with a good buffing and new decals. We decided not to do that, and just sell it as-is. Someone with the desire could fix the osmosis issues if desired, or this boat could live out its days as a dedicated slalom tractor that works well but doesn't look brand new.

The upholstery is all there, but is showing signs of age with several split seams, especially on the back trunk and on the observer's seat.

It is missing several speakers.

The speedometer and the tachometer are not working. The four smaller gauges are working (oil pressure, temperature, fuel, and volts). The PerfectPass display is working, but I haven't tested the actual functionality of the system. It does display the RPM's, and, since it is original to the boat, it has an accurate count of the hours (951.2).

We have gone through the engine, and it is running well. It has a new impeller, and several new hoses. It idles well and runs up to speed with no issues. The steering cable feels fairly new, and the boat turns easily. There are no major vibrations noted, and the blower and bilge pumps work. The navigation light on the front is broken.

The carpet is a bit dirty, but may clean up nicely.

The boat is a Limited, so it has keyless ignition that works fine. I am not sure if the speedometer and tachometer issues are related to the gateway failing or if the gauges themselves have failed.

The swim platform is fiberglass, and in nice condition. It has black SANO (original non-skid).

It is being sold with a 2003 Ram-Lin trailer. It is a single-axle with working lights. The trailer does not have a title, so it will be sold on a bill of sale.

The boat has a clean and clear North Carolina title.

Price for this boat:

$9,900 with the 2003 Ram-Lin trailer

$8,900 with no trailer

Now available for sale is this beautiful 1998 Ski Nautique. This boat is finished in black and zephyr with gold metal flake pinstripes and accents. This boat has the 5.8L HO carbureted engine that produces 290 horsepower with a 1.23:1 transmission. The engine has 571 hours on the clock. The propeller is an Acme 422. It also has the factory-option extended pylon and the factory-option depth finder. This was my personal boat for the summers of 2023 & 2024, and over the last few months it has had a number of improvements completed to bring it to its current condition. Here are a few.

  • Gelcoat freshly wet sanded, polished and buffed

  • New pinstripes

  • New graphics -- all of them

  • Windshield frame freshly powder coated

  • Speedometers refurbished

  • New throttle knob

  • New steering cable

  • Freshly rebuilt carburetor

  • New distributor

  • New spark plugs

  • New spark plug wires

  • New fuel pump

  • New fuel lines

  • New fuel/water separator filter

  • Freshly refinished swim platform

Everything works as-designed, and the engine runs very nicely.

While this is a very nice vessel, it has not undergone a full restoration, and it does have some imperfections. I try to list as many imperfections as possible when selling a boat so that there are no surprises. Here are a few of the imperfections:

  • The center windshield support bar is missing.

  • The carpet is not new, and is showing signs of wear.

  • The vinyl, while very nice, is showing some signs of wear, especially on the black panel on the driver's seat. The engine box has a couple of small tears as well.

  • This boat had a tower installed at some point, and the patch job on the holes, while not terrible, is not perfect. If you look closely, you can see where the tower was mounted.

  • The center rear seat cushion is missing.

  • There is a small scratch in the Zephyr gelcoat near the tip of the bow. See the next-to-last picture below.

  • There are speakers installed, but there is no stereo head unit.

This boat can come with a trailer, or if you do not need a trailer, the price can be discounted.

The available trailer is a 2002 Ram-Lin single-axle (this is the one in the pictures). This trailer was just refinished by Ram-Lin, and received new paint, new bunks and steps, new carpet, new LED lights, new brakes, new bearings and seals, new coupler, etc. It is basically a brand new trailer. This trailer came from a non-title state, so the trailer will be sold with a bill of sale only.

The boat has a clean and clear North Carolina title.

Price for this boat:

$16,900 (reduced from $18,900) with the nice 2002 Ram-Lin trailer

$15,900 (reduced from $16,900) with no trailer
